I don’t know about you, but I have seen a lot of ‘100 Books You Must Read in Your Lifetime!’ articles. All of them seem different, some focus on more modern books and others on classics. In November 2018 I happened to come across a poster on amazon while shopping for my friends and families and I really liked that it had some classics and more modern books on the list as well. It was called, Gift Republic 100 Books Bucket List Poster (not an affiliate link). So of course, I ended up buying it for myself.
While this is not the best picture in the world of the poster, you can see that I have read 20 21 of the books already on this list, I missed The Time Machine on my first look through. Overall, reading 21 books is not a horrible start if you ask me. I thought it would be fun to share my progress on this poster throughout the year and see how much progress I make on this bookish bucket list.

I know, I had to have it when I saw it. Eleven books is really good. What ones do you own that you still need to read?

Mostly the classics bc I seem to hoard classics and never read them oops

I know I did that at one time, I think the tendency came from the fact they have been here a while and they aren’t going anywhere.

I’ve wanted to get a poster like this myself! I wonder how you scratch off the spaces like The Chronicles of Narnia? Maybe a sixth of the pace for each book completed. Hmm…
I did just pick up a copy of The Odyssey which has long been on my Bucket List. It’s a new translation by Emily Wilson that I’ve heard fabulous things about, plus the accompanying audio is read by Claire Danes, so fun times all around!

21 is a great number to have read out of all these books! I stand at just 6. I think I need to up my game a bit, or well, a lot!

I love looking at lists like this! I always wish there were some more updated ones though, to be honest.

What do you mean by updated ones, like a check in of some sort?

Oh, well that would be cool too! But I meant like lists with more updated titles on them. I feel like a lot of these lists are all older/classics…which are classics for a reason and I’m down for them getting read. But the are some phenomenal new books exploring similar topics, and generally from more diverse perspectives, that I would love a similar list of. If that makes sense.

True, I have seen some that are more modern. There are a ton and a lot of bookish sites have their own version. One day our modern books will become classics and be on these posters.
