TBR

My Owned TBR | June 2019

BOOKSHELVES

While I am putting the header of Annotating my Bookshelf, I am going to be talking the books I own and have not read as of right writing this. Earlier this month I shared my new bullet journal with you, Bullet Journal | June 2019, but I did not share a particular page. I decided to put my entire owned TBR into my bullet journal and I wanted to share that with you separately.

Above you will see my new Owned TBR layout. I am really happy with how it came out. As you can see I have a little key on the top for started, DNFed/unhauled, and read. You can see that applied to the square to the left of the title. On the right of the title you will see a larger rectangle. I am putting 3 possible symbols there, an A and audiobook available on audible, L for an audiobook available from my library, and an * for if I own the audiobook already. This way I can keep track of books that have audiobooks and such so I can sprinkle them into my reading. I always have an audiobook going since I listen to them in the car and while I am cleaning or doing chores.

One thing I am proud of is that my TBR fits on two pages with a bit of wiggle room. A few years ago my TBR was over 100 easily and I managed to get it down to about 40. My happy place with my TBR is 40 books or less so I am excited. Another plus is that there are no unread books that I have owned for more than a year. Everyone of these books U have owned for 11 months or less in most cases. Not something I was able to say in the past as well.

I am really happy with this spread, but also the books on my Owned TBR. Over the years I have really been able to pinpoint the types of books I really enjoy. A few years ago I was still all over the place and just picking up books that were familiar to me without really reading the descriptions. At this point I can happily and honestly say I want to read all of these books.

    1. That is a decent TBR. Mine used to be above that by about 35 I think. It personally was way too much for me to have in front of me. I couldn’t ever make a decision on what to read and was overwhelmed.

      1. I kind of like having so many but I’m very indecisive so it makes it hard for me to decide what I want to read as well. If I was to add all of my ebooks too I think I would probably have like 200+ but I’m not 100% sure of the exact number.

      2. I pick up a free ebook from amazon first each month. So if I added those “rainy day” books I would prob have another 10 I think? I am not sure how many ebooks I own and have not read.

  1. This is such a good idea! Will keep you accountable for actually reading your owned book!
I actually don’t have that many unread books, since I’m currently living abroad and it will be to hard to take them all back home! I think i only have 3 physical unread books, and maybe 15 ebooks

    1. Yes, I am starting to do my read 5, buy 1 challenge again since my TBR got so high after bookcon. It will get be to focus on my owned books, but also allows me to get new ones as well without being able to go overboard.

What are those three unread books?

    1. I have no idea how many are unread on my kindle. I mainly get free books on there so I don’t really count them, if that makes sense. My TBR used to be a lot higher, it was way to overwhelming at one point.
