Bullet Journal | December 2018

Recs

Last month I sadly did not get around to sharing my bullet journal, but I am excited to get to share this months with you. I am using some of my tried and true spreads as well as trying a few new ones as well.

This month I wanted simple layouts, apart from the bonus one below, and limit my colors to pale relaxing colors. I am not sure why, but I was really craving cool tones.

Here is my main introduction page into December. I thought it would be fun to do a warm fire place because during the month of December that is the only place I want to sit, right in front of it. I also wanted to put a few simple decorations. I never go all out with decoration in real life so why would I in my bullet journal?

This is my calendar page. This is where I write all the appointments, meetings, and due dates for various things. When I took this picture it was blank, it is already totally filled. It is funny how things come flying at you all at once. I loved the little lights so I added them to the side of the page. I didn’t color them in because I wanted the purple to be the star of this page. It is such a relaxing color.

So on the left hand side is my Monthly Overview, this is where I write down all my planned posts. I am happy to say that I have some fun posts coming up this month that I am excited to share with you. Mainly my favorite and least favorite books of 2018. I cannot believe it is already time to reflect on the year.

On the right side of the page is my December TBR. It may be a bit of a sneak peak, but oh well.

This is the layout I am going to be giving a try. I kinda got inspiration from BooksandLala on Youtube for this. On the right side I am going to assign a book a color and track the days I have read it on the left hand side. If all goes to plan there should be a fun cool toned rainbow on the left hand side to show when I started, read, and finished a book using the colors and code on the right side. I am curious to see if I keep up with this or not. Only time will tell.

This is my typical tracking pages I put in my bullet journal every month. The right page is where I write the titles of the books I read and then color them in. On the right I color in a block for each chapter I read. At this time I only added the books on my TBR, more will be added because I never stick to my TBR.

I am not sure if I have shared this before, but this is the weekly spread I use. While I give a majority of the room to my weekdays. I don’t combine Saturday and Sunday because then I end up waiting to do everything on Sunday. As you can see I also have a few stickers. I track the moon cycles in my bullet journal because I always love being aware of the moon and its cycles. I always have since I was a little girl. I also have assigned days to clean, write, and do laundry which are indicated by sticks. I also do a weekly weigh in that I keep track of in my bullet journal as well.

I hoped you have enjoyed the sneak peak into my bullet journal this month. I really enjoyed how this month turned out. It is clean and calm, just what I need and wanted.

#Blogoween | Book Spine Spells!

Blogoween

Prompt:

Thursday 11th: Spell List
We’re all familiar with Book Spine Poetry by now. No? Stack up your books in an order that allow the titles to create a poem. For this prompt we’re using horror or Halloween themed books only to line up and create Book Spine Spells!

Oh goodness, this was a hard one for me. I was never good at poetry. The only time I enjoy writing poetry is when it is blackout poetry. So this one was a prompt I was kind of dreading, but over all it didn’t turn out as bad as I thought it would be. So without further delay here is my spooky book spine poetry!

#Blogoween | Local Ghost Demand a Book!

Blogoween

Prompt:

Wednesday 10th: Local Ghosties Demand a Book!
Chose a horror, supernatural, scary, or ghost story that you’ve heard and is local to your area/home town, or a personal scary experience. Tells us about this and write a blurb too!

The mother never gave up looking for her daughter even when her community slowly gave up, the weather turned worse as the seasons cycled through. As the years passed she was said to continue to walk around the water and the surrounding area of Durand-Eastman Park. She continued to do this until her passing, or did she really stop?
It is said that when you go to this area that you could see a few different things. A women in white walking up and out of the water onto the land searching and looking for those who may have taken her daughter, or the body of her young child. Some of the tales say that she is accompanied by two dogs who help in her search.

Recs

This month I was a bit more relaxed with my spreads and my theme. Normally I pick one and just stick to it, but this time I decided to not be as strict with myself and just doodle what I pleased. I really love how it turned out and I love how effect the spreads are this time around. I did end up leaving off a few spreads that I have been using such as a sleep tracker because I realized that I wasn’t really keeping up with them anymore.

Supplies I Used

My Spreads!

This month I felt like my dashboard should be a doodlefest and I loved very min. of creating this. It was fun to just take some me time and doodle instead of picking just one or two items to focus on. What came out is something I am happy to look at often. It mixes fall and halloween, candy and vegetables, and other seasonal treats.

This is my monthly calendar page, I normally add in my buddy reads, due dates, and other things I need to put into my weekly spreads later in the month. I love the way this spread looks now. I used to jam it into one page and I didn’t really have a ton of space to add things in so I would abandon it. Now that it is larger I use it all the time. Also, I wanted to add that I got the days of the weeks headers from an etsy shop called SunShineStickerCo and the month name stickers are from FourCatStickerCo. I am never good with calligraphy so I wanted to get some stickers to make my bullet journal less messy. So far I am loving them so much.

Here are two spreads which I do every month, monthly overview and to be read. My monthly overview is just the blog posts I plan on writing or I have already written and my TBR is the books I plan on reading, but I also add some books in if I end up starting to read them. At this point you can see I finished reading Salem’s Witch House and I started East of Eden.

Here are my more fun bookish trackers. On the left is a book stack of 12 books where I write in the title of a book and color when I have finished one. I love this visual tracker and I love how it gets more colorful as the month goes on. On the right are the books I am planning on reading or have started to read broken up into chapters. As you can see I finished all of Salem’s Witch House and I read 3 chapters of East of Eden.

I wanted to give you guys a little peak into my weekly spreads, I know you can’t see too much but I am breaking my weeks into 6 sections. Each day of the week has their own devoted box and the weekend has one as well. I have really been loving these for to do lists and appointments. I also like having the stickers for my daily chore there as well. These stickers are from frannielambstickers. These are great as well.

Also, it would not be blogoween without some preplanning for my posts. Because I am writing this much content I am not really posting or coming up with blog post ideas on a whim. So I wrote down a weeks worth of prompts and I am preplanning a bit. Now you may notice that I never posted the prompt for the first, that is because I decided to post my TBR that day.

Writing12:17

Hello everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that I am taking part in, or at least I am going to try to take part in Blogoween, which will be a month full of Halloween and bookish posts. My two favorite things!

I found out about this Halloween and Fall related challenge after reading about it on Northern Plunder, if you have not yet check out her blog she is awesome. As soon as I saw her first post I knew I needed to jump in.

Don’t have to post on Halloween (but you can!)
Level 2: 24th – 31st

Must post on the 24th Oct through to the 31st Oct (that’s 7 posts)
Must be consecutive posts
Must post on Halloween
Can’t change level
Level 3: 31 Days

I think I am going to go really bold here and TRY for level 3, but chances are I will end up doing 13 days of Blogoween, no shame in that. Honestly, my goal is to just have fun and maybe find a few new blogs to follow. I hope you don’t mind all of the posting you are about to see from me!

My Spreads!

This month I took some inspiration for my bullet journal from a youtuber named Layla, I will link her video down below if you would like to see her spreads. I mainly used her layout for the September page. I have been loving tea and I recently took a trip to Massachusetts and I noticed the leaves were already changing so when I saw this spread I was still thinking a lot about my trip and decided to make it my own in a way.

So this month I decided to try and make my monthly spread a little bigger than I have previously. Last month I tried to do daily spreads and I stopped using them after the first or second week so I thought that if I made this monthly spread a little bigger I can add more of the details if I feel like it. Since this was the first time I did this layout you can see my calendar has little stilts, regardless I still really like it. I also, have noticed I like adding when library books are due and when my buddy read discussions are happening and what pages they will cover. It helps me stay a bit more organized.

On the left hand side of this page you can see my September TBR, or should I say my mostly Stephen King TBR. I am actually buddy reading two of the books this month so that is exciting! On the right hand side is where I write in and color the books I read throughout the month.

Last month I started having a sleep tracker and I really enjoyed it. I really got to see some patterns I was unable to really notice before. So I decided I wanted to continue to do this. I also left the hours blank at this time because I don’t know if I enjoyed the format or not I used last month, starting at 12 midnight. So, until I decide I am leaving it blank.

On the right hand side I have my monthly overview for blog posts. I left this blank so for now so I don’t share too much information.

On the left side I have my read 5, buy 1 challenge. I will openly admit I failed last month because I went on vacation and I stopped at a few literary places and I wanted to get a few books to commemorate my visit. I feel no shame in it because it is not like I will go to the Alcott Orchard House or the House of the Seven Gables anytime soon.

On the right side I have my chapter/progress markers for my TBR. If you have not seen this before, I color in a block for a chapter/section I finish reading within a book to track my progress visually instead of looking at the percent all the time on goodreads. I find that when I always look at goodreads I read for shorter amounts of time than if I track it in my notebook.

Bullet Journal & Migration | August 2018

Recs

Hello everyone, this month is exciting because I get to migrate over to a new bullet journal, my 5th one. I cannot believe I have been using bullet journals for that long, time sure does fly. So this month not only will you get to see my August spreads, I am also sharing my trackers and other things I am carrying over.

Once again I am experimenting with recording a video and then adding it to my blog post. This way I can explain all the aspect in more detail and you can move to the sections you are most interested in. The past two I have done I am enjoying, I always love learning how to do new things. Without more rambling, here is my migration into my new bullet journal and my August spreads.

Bullet Journal | July 2018

RecsHello everyone! So this month I had a lot of fun with my bullet journal theme. This month I decided to bring in some lemons. My boyfriend and myself have an inside joke where we call each other lemons instead of evil. This stems from the Spongbob Squarepants episode where EVIL stands for Every Villain Is Lemons. We were having a bit to fun before I started working on my doodles that I needed to make it this months theme. In fact, my boyfriend gave me a prop to use as inspiration that I shared over on twitter. Well, here it is my July bullet journal spreads.

Divider

Here you can see my July page, I will admit I had a hard time figuring out how to get the depth I wanted on the lemon slice due to my limited color choices, but I ended up liking how it turned out. It feels so positive, bright, and happy. I also loved these flowers so I needed to showcase them as well.

Here you can see how I set up my monthly overview plus a little sneak peak into two of the blog posts I already have scheduled. I never write my blog posts in order, but it works for me! I am debating if I want to reprint the images of the book stacks I used last month or not. I figured I have time to decide so I left it pretty much blank.

On the left hand side you can see my TBR pile image. I posted it on instagram so instead of rewriting everything I decided to just print it out and paste it in my bullet journal. A funny about The Invisible Man, I accidentally read the wrong one and I was so confused as to why it was not science fiction. I borrowed it from the library digitally and they did not display the author, but it was so funny when I finished The Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison I enjoyed it, but I was so confused. But, I do plan on “fixing” this by reading the H.G. Wells novel by the same name soon.

I decided to try using squares instead of circles to mark my days read in July. I also tried to play with script writing by writing a cute phrase of some sort.

On the left hand side I cleaned up my Read 5 Buy 1 tracker, I like this cleaner set up a lot more. On the right hand side I updated my tracker to not only track how many times I go to the gym, but also if I study and drink the amount of water I need to drink. As you can see I do not strive to do it everyday. I never go well with changing my own patterns all in one go, so this is how I operate.

A few months ago I participated in the OWLs readathon I met all my requirements to become a potions master and I am eligible to take my NEWTs in August, but my friend Amy wanted to participate so I told her I would do it with her. So as you can see I completed 5 already, this month I am focusing on working on the exams I did not complete. For each I write the title of a book or short story that would work for each prompt. As you know, I never stick to a TBR so this should be interesting.

Bullet Journal Revisited| June 2018

Recs

So, earlier this month I finally ended up sharing my bullet journal with all of you. Now I was thinking maybe you all would also enjoy seeing how it looks when the month is all finished? I figured I would try it out as well and see what everyone thinks.

Divider

Nothing really changed in my heading page or my calendar, in fact I don’t think I looked at this calendar once. I am not sure if it is because I did not have a ton to do, or it is not a useful tool to have in here. I think I will be seeing if I use it in July or not to determine if I will continue to add this in the future.

On the left hand side you can see all the posts I posted this past month, while when this picture was taken before the end of the month you can see I have some things written in pencil and some things written in pen. The items written in pen are posted or scheduled, the items in pencil are a rough idea of what I am thinking about posting. This means it may or may not happen or I might post something else entirely. I never stick to this throughout the month, that is why it is always in pencil first.

On the right hand side you can see my monthly stack. I did not create the image, I found it on google and printed it out as a guide. I write the name of the book I finished and then color it when I get around to it.

On the left hand side you can see I kinda stuck to my TBR. I ended up reading 3 of the 5 I planned on reading. For me this is not bad at all since I am a complete mood reader. I don’t think I have ever stuck to a TBR 100% and I don’t think I ever will either.

On the right hand side you can see the books I picked up this month. Since doing my read 5 buy 1 challenge I have slowed down a lot, but I am so happy about it. I am more picky about what I add to my TBR and I tend to read them a lot faster as well.

As of writing this it is June 26th, I have read every day, but this image was taken a few days ago so my color is not up to date.

On the left hand side you can see my update of my Read 5 buy 1, some of the books I bought this month the read 5 page is actually in the previous month. I am not sure if I want to transfer the 3 I have read so far into next month or just leave it here and when I get to a new 5 write into next month. I have a bit of thinking to do.

On the right hand side you can see I mainly only tracked myself going to the gym. As of writing this I went a total of 9 days with a goal of 12. I do have a few days left so I am going to make sure I meet my goal.

Here is just a little peak into my reading progress doe a few of the books I read in June. I am almost caught up with my buddy read a well. Yay!

I kinda participated in the Cramathon this month and here are the books that I planned on reading. The ones with a check next to them are the ones I completed.

This last image is just a picture of a card I got with my order of my new fountain pen. I actually have 3 of them, but I wanted a new one.  I thought the elephant was so adorable I needed to have it in my bullet journal just to look at.
