Bullet Journal

Hello and welcome to my May bullet journal post! This is an exciting one, I started a brand new notebook this month so I have more to share than just my monthly spreads. This is going to bit of a long one, so I am going to just get into it!

Items Used

Archer & Olive A5 Garden Sliter Dot Grid notebook

SAKURA Pigma Micron Pen Set  01

So, here is my new bullet journal. This time around I went for basic black and this one has a snake on the cover. One thing I love about these notebooks is the fact they have simple decoration on the cover. To me it gives off a classic and elegant vibe.

The first page of my notebook s always a general dot grid spread. I have used this n my last three bullet journals, it is really helpful when setting up new and old spreads. I always forget how many spaces go across my page and the halfway mark so this is very helpful.

This time around I decided to add a movie tracker. This spread is inspired by cyrus.serendipity14. All I need to do now is to add all the movies I need to watch. On the second page I added a TV tracker.  This tracker is inspired by @birdybujo on Instagram. I like how simple it is, at this point Outlander is the only show added. Also, you will notice I doodled herbs and plants on each page, this will continue throughout. I thought it would be a good way to tie everything together. On these pages I have rosemary and basil.

This time around I am trying to be more away of my spending and ordering online. I have a few goals this year for myself so I want to get everything in order. This wishlist and waiting on is inspired by  bulletjournal.com. Just like the previous pages, I really want to keep everything simple with these spreads because a lot will be added later on. On these pages I added lavender and sage.

Now these two spreads are a little more involved. On the left I am adding a health centered spread to track measurements and weight. This is inspired by @bulletjournalnoob. I need to still add some gray to differentiate the lines, but I am still searching for my gray highlighter. On the right I decided I am going to draw a book for all the books on my owned tbr shelf, this is inspired by @bujoandbee. I added a few plants that are a zz plant, monstera, and thyme.

On the lefthand side I wanted a way to keep track of all of my crochet projects. I decided to make a tag for each one. On each will be the start and end date, pattern, who it is for, and yarn used. On the right I put a monthly spread layout  from emerald lotus divination. I am planning on doing this spread every month so I wanted to keep it on hand to make things a bit easier. On these pages I doodled a string of pearls and oregano.

This is a bill tracker I used in my previous bullet journal. It is really helpful when you pay your bills you can just mark it and you don’t need to worry if you forgot. I also add what date it is due and what I pay it with. On this page I attempted to draw mint, not sure how I feel about it, but I am still glad I tried.

I have had a tracker for my followers for this blog and my twitter for the past two bullet journals, but I changed the layout this time around, I was inspired by @penspapersplanner. I just do it for every five new followers, nothing fancy. I am not much of a numbers person, but I like marking it. On these spreads I drew chives.

I will be completely honest, I took the easy way out on this spread. I just photo copied  from previous bujo because I loved how well it came out the first time I didn’t want to mess it up.

On the left I migrated by temperature blanket tracker, I have very much behind and I really need to get back to it. Maybe you will see it in my next crochet update, my latest update you can find here: Crochet Talk | April 2020. On the right I photocopied a moon doodle from the book Muse with the Moon by Jo Cauldrick. It is the perfect reference I needed to keep track of the moon and the phases in order. On this page I doodled cilantro.

I love buddy reads and I love keeping track of them. I decided to continue with a buddy reads tracker and I also just migrated my top reads of 2020 spread. I left it blank when I took this picture so you all can be surprised at the end of the year. On this page I added basil.

Now onto the monthly spreads. This spread was taken by @littleolivebujo. I really loved how simple and organized this monthly introduction was. I loved the idea of monthly goals and a place for bigger events and the such. On this page I doodled some thyme.

Now, you mostly likely know I am studying Korean if you have been reading my blog regularly. I ended up taking this study spread from @jeannestudies. On the right I am keeping track to random expenses that come up. I kept these simple because they are going to be very full of information soon enough. I added rosemary and chamomile to these spreads.

My TBR and pages read spread is the one I used last month, just migrated over. I figure if it works, why change it up? On the right is where I am going to take notes and record my monthly spread that I noted earlier. I left a lot of open room so I have a lot of room to reflect and revisit as the month goes on.

This month my weekly spreads are a bit different. I added a few trackers on the sides that include habit, weekly, hours sleep and weather. Unfortunately I pinned this a while ago on Pinterest, but the link is now broken. I don’t remember where it came from so if you know who did this please let me know! I want to give them credit. On this spread I added thyme and dill.

Bullet Journal | April 2020

Bullet Journal

Hello and welcome to my April Bujo post! This month is actually my last month in this notebook, which is a little sad since there are so many memories attached to it. But, I am kind of execited about my new notebook as well. It feels like a refreshing new start and I kind of wanted to pull that into this month’s spreads. My new notebook has a snake on the front so I wanted to bring the snakes to April as well. Now, without further ado, here is my bujo spreads for April.

Inspiration

thebujophase on instagram

This is my magical readathon spread this time around. I left another page blank if I want to make a progress spread, but I have not made up my mind if I I want to or not. I did want to make a spread with the information for my career and optional training I am trying for. If you want to see the books I picked for this years OWLs, you can see that in my post,  To Be Read | April | #OWLsReathaon2020.

This is my monthly spread for the month. I am giving this new spread a try, using a method called Dutch Door. I decided to have my daily page count present on the peek through. I figured with the OWLs it would be fun.

On the other side of the Dutch Door I put my Blog Notes and my TBR list and a little print out of a snake. I am looking forward to using this during April, it is always fun to try something new.

This month I made my weekly layout a bit different this month. I wanted to give each day its space and its own to do list space. With working from home I really felt the need to keep everything in one place, I am hoping this spread and and cute snake can help me with that.

Do you enjoy snakes?

Are you participating in the OWLs? What are you reading for the OWLs?

Bullet Journal | Testing White Pens

Bullet Journal

Hello and welcome to a little discussion/testing bullet journal supplies, this time around I am testing different white pens. I know for me personally I always use a white pen to cover up mistakes or add some highlights to a doodle I added. I feel like the white pen  has a lot of uses. I was using my go to one a gellyroll and I wondered to myself, is this one really the best? So I decided to compare a few of the ones that ones I see more frequently. Now, on to the white pens!

The Pens I Am Testing

  • Gelly Roll
  • Uniball
  • Pilot G2
  • Sarasa Clip

I just want to point out for the sake of this little experiment that I am using my Olive & Archer  notebook. So, how a pen interactions with the paper will vary some depending on the color and type of paper. This is just my experience with the notebook I use.

As you can tell on the picture above I tested four different whjte pens in this experiment. I decided to write with them on white paper and then try and write on top of blank ink.

With the first part of this experiment, just writing with the pen you can see some show up more than others. The uniball and gelly Roll really hold their own in this regard, even on white paper you can still make out the writing. The other ones just dissapear to my eyes.

The second part of this experiment for me is the most important. I tend to use my white pen over areas I have already written on to either correct or decorate my bullet journal. For this test I just added a line of ink and let it dry for about 3 min., following this I decided to go over the area a few times. As you can see from the picture above, most of the white pens tended to lift the ink a bit. The only one that did not mix with the ink under it seemed to be the uniball pen. I was quite surprised since my previous go to with the gellyroll pens, but after this experiment with the ink I use the paper I use, it seems that uniball is the one that works best for me and my uses.

I suggest giving these a go in your own bullet journal and seeing what works best for your circumstances, but here are the results I have found for me personally.

What is your go to white pen?

Is there a different one that you use or a different one I should try?

Bullet Journal | March 2020

Bullet Journal

Hello and welcome to another month and another look into my bullet journal! I am very excited about this months spreads because they are all inspired by my new adventure I am starting this month. I go into a bit of detail in my post Let’s Talk| A New Language Adventure. So, I wanted to really inspire myself because I feel like it takes a month to make a habit, so I wanted to make sure I stayed inspired and reminded to take even a few moments a day to study. Now, here are the spreads I am using this month!

So, this month I really wanted to create a calendar to refer back to because I feel like I was missing it mainly because when I needed to make appointments and such it was a bit of a pain flipping through a bunch fo pages. This way, I can quickly look at one page and have all of the information I need and I can add it to my weekly spreads later. I decided I wanted to add some Korean to my monthly spread, so I labeled the month and days in Korean. Since I am just starting to learn I added the pronunciation at the bottom oof each day. I am really in love with how it came out.

I once again am adding my tried and true reading log and tbr page I have been using for months and I absolutely adore. So, since I use it every month I am going to keep it. I am going too put a picture of a completed spread below.

Here is a completed version of my book/reading tracking tbr page.

I decided to add my blog notes and posts into my bullet journal. I still have a separate planner for it, but sometimes I just like to have everything in once place instead of just spread around when I am writing on the go. I feel like that is why I have been “behind” on my blogging this month. So, this is my way of trying to fix it. I also decided to put a picture from Korea on the right hand side.

So, I decided to mix up my weekly spreads this month. On the left I decided to make my spread two columns instead of just one. I feel like I just wanted to change it up a bit and I wanted to add a bit of color. I decided on this color because it was a matches the color in the picture on the previous page.

So, this is the last new page of my bullet journal this month. I decided to have a bit of a tracker for my. Korean study. Since I am using the Talk to Me in Korean series I wanted to make sure I marked my progress and everything like that. I know I am personally motivated by seeing this type of progress.

So, there is my bullet journal for the month of March. I am really excited to use it.

Bullet Journal | February 2020

Bullet Journal

Hello and welcome to another bujo post! I know last week I shared my unboxing of the most recently Tombow VIP Club, Unboxing | Tombow VIP Club January 2020, sadly I already had my February spreads all set up already. But, I am planning to use all of those items in next months spreads and really try and add more color. This month I have gone really simple and to the point because I have so much going on, I don’t really want distractions. If I do need more spreads, I will add them at a later date. As for now, here is my February bujo!

So here is my dash page! The flower art was created by Shayda Campbell, I am really loving the floral lately and her stuff is all about bringing in the natural feelings. On the right I wanted a quote and I did some abstract art with some cut up black paper I had laying around. I decided to add a quote I came across online and add a little doodle.

Here is my must have spread, since I starting using this I have just fallen in love with it. I track the books I have read and when I have read them. I color code the blocks with the book.  It is a little hard to explain so I am going to add my January completed one below so you can see.

So, on the book tracker. page you can see on the right I have a book title highlighted in a particular color. I then block off a square or squares for the dates that I read that book. An example would be a Midsummers Night’s Dream in a light purple color. I look at the chart and I can see that I read it from the 12th to the 16th of January. On the right I have my tbr and then I add extra books if I read them.

Here is my super simple and the same as I have been weekly layouts. These were originally inspired by Elizabeth Turnbull months and months ago and they just work for me. In my eyes, if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. So I am keeping these the same.

I know this month is super short and simple, but like I said, I don’t really want to add to much this month because I have so much going on I don’t want to be distracted by anything. But, I am loving the ones I have created.

Hauls

Unboxing | Tombow VIP Club January 2020

Hauls & Unboxings

Hello and welcome to a little unboxing of the Tombow VIP Club. I was not planning ordering and unboxing this today, but honestly Tombow loves to throw these boxes out randomly so here I am.  I saw it in my email and I really loved what was inside so I ordered it. In the US this is $25 with free shipping. Now to unbox and see if it is worth the money! If this is still available you can find it here: Tombow VIP Club.

I just love how festive the box is when I opened it I needed to take a picture. It is so bright and color, just what I have needed with all of the long nights of winter. I truly miss the color of Spring, Summer, and Fall.

Here are the items inside the box, first the exclusive Tombow playing cards. I love playing solitaire in my free time so these were a really cute edition in my eyes. Also great for an unexpected card game with friends, these are said to be about $12.99. This is about on par with some nicer playing cards I have seen at the store. Next we have a new collection of their Dual Brush Pens called Celebration. This is a collection of 10 colors which include; 055, 452, 245,885, 723,  850, 026, 451, 743, and 925. This is said to be worth $26.99. I have used and loved thee Dual Brush Pens for a few years now, I personally really enjoy them. Lastly, we have MONO Drawing Pens in 6 different sizes; 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, and 08. I have not used this before, but I am really excited to give them a try. I feel like they would be great in my bullet journal! These are also said to be worth $16.99.

So, if you total all of that up this box is worth $56.97. Very much above the $25 price of the box. The Dual Brush Pens alone are the price of the box.

Here is a little peak into the cards, they are really beautiful cards and feature the work from the design team.  It seems that each suit has its own artist, which is a wonderful way to showcase their team members and their talents.

Here is a swatch of all of the colors in the Celebration set as well as all of the MONO Drawing Pens. I am happy to report that none of them bleed through, which I was really thrilled about. Pens can be very tricky at times, but for reference I use Archer and Olive  A5 dot grid notebook, so your experience might not be the same as mine if you use a different notebook.

Overall I am thrilled by this Tombow VIP Club box. For me it is a great deal, I get to try new things without putting out the full price. That is always something I worry about, spending money and buying something full price and it doesn’t work out. This really gives me a bit more confidence to go outside of my normal box and give something a go.

What did you think of this box?

What was your favorite time? Do you use any of these supplies?

Bullet Journal | January 2020

Bullet JournalHello and welcome to another Bujo setup post! I am very excited to show you this months spreads for two reasons. I have cut a lot of the spreads I normally had and I added a few for the new year. Some of the cuts include my blog planning. I totally removed those pages and I now use a different planner/travelers notebook. As for the other spreads, expect to see a little consolidation and a few new layouts to mark the new year! On to a look into my bullet journal!

Since I am using the same notebook as I transition into the new year I decided to add this artwork from Shayda Campbell. I feel like this really separates and marks the new year and I thought it was important to celebrate it.

This year I wanted to add a little layout that would highlight my favorite book of the month. I thought it would be helpful and fun to reflect upon it at the end of the year. On the other page I have a Read 5, Buy 1 layout for the new year. I am excited to get back to this. But, this time I am making sure I only count books from my own shelves as thee reads, not library books this time around. So, because of this the spread is a little smaller.

This page I added a little doodle and then I also added a page with 12 books to showcase my 2020 Shakespeare Challenge, if you don’t know about it here is the post,  Blogmas | Goals | 2020 Shakespeare Challenge. I wanted to mark the play that is picked each month because it is a year long journey and I would love to see it grow. I also want to add a doodle for each play as I read them.  I thought it would be fun.

I have been working on a temperature blanket since the summer and I wanted to track my progress in my bullet journal. So, I added the month on the top and the day on the side and I am adding a dot for the days I have crocheted. I did not fill it out before taking the picture, but I will admit I am a little behind. On the right I decided to have a meal prep idea bank for when I am stumped on what to make for my meals. These are all ones I love so I will always be happy with any of them.

I picked this up from craftyenginerd, this year I wanted a pysical way to track when bills are paid. I will say I have never paid anything late, but sometimes I pay so early I freaekout and think I didn’t pay. So this will help me not freak out and rush and sign into my accounts. I also want to do a monthly one, I was thinking of adding one inspired by thatbujokid. But, I have not done it yet. I am still up in the air about it.

Here we are getting into the monthly spreads. On the left I have my January dashboard and mini calendar. On the right I added a place to add an affirmation that I can look back on. At the time I did not add one because I wanted to take the time and add a meaningful one. These are both from Shayda Campbell. The one on the right I took her other artwork and used it to complete the spread. I will say this month I didn’t use a ruler and I am kinda feeling the messy lines.

This month I really wanted to continue with the messy lines and the brown paper so I brought it through to me book tracker and to be read. These are spreads I have every month so I won’t go to much into it, but if you want to check out my TBR you can see that here: To Be Read | January 2020.

My weekly layouts are very similar to what they have been the last few months, but I added a tracker into my weekly spreads instead of just its own page. I really wanted to downsize my monthly spreads and get rid of stuff that was fluff and condense everything if I could. This layout has really been working for me and I have loved using it.

Bullet Journal | December 2019

Recs

Hello and welcome to another peak into my bullet journal. This month I kept it really simple and to the point. I have a ton going on and I didn’t want to get too distracted by all the extra spreads and such. But, I am still in love with how it came out. It puts me in a wonderfully cozy mood.

Before I jump into talking about my monthly set up, I wanted to show you a general spread I added. I was inspired by the youtuber named Samantha Menzo. I can’t remember the particular video it was that I saw, but I ran with the inspiration. With the name Luna, you can only imagine how much I enjoy the moon and its cycles.

Here is my dashboard and month at a glance page. I once again used the artwork from Plant Based Bride, you all must be sick of hearing me talk about her, but she is a wonderful and talented individual. I also started following a youtuber Shayda Campbell and she is very inspiring as well. I really enjoyed the cozy feeling in this artwork instead of being all about the holidays. Don’t get me wrong I love the holidays, but for me there is so much more to the month than that and I would be looking way to forward to it and keep wishing the month away. Speaking of, I still need to decorate!

This month I wanted by habit tracker to focus on things that I need this month or I want to make a priority. I didn’t want to add any fluff. I am tracing if I was active in anyway, if I read, if I slept for 7 hours or more, if I took my vitamins, if i did a bit of tidying, and if I study. I really loved relearning and learning new things I decided that even though my test is over I want to continue to learn. On the right you can see my post tracker, I am trying to get a bit more organized and visuals always work better for me. I also like to track what I need to do when it comes to particular posts. I like setting little bench marks, I feel more productive.

This is my book tracker, I am going to be tracking when I read a book and which book it is. I decided I am not interested in knowing how many pages a day I read. It was just too much data for me and my needs. On the other side you can see another painting of that beautiful cabin on my dashboard page.

Now, I already posted my TBR post, but I was slacking and did not write it down. I will say I am loving adding art throughout my bujo lately instead of just being spreads. It breaks things up nicely and just adds something for me. If you are interested in seeing the books I am planning on reading this month you can see those here: TBR | December 2019

This month I am keeping my weekly spreads the same as last month, this layout is really working for me. As they say, if it an’t broke, don’t fix it

So there is the sneak peak into my bullet journal, I hope you enjoyed it. In the future I would love to add more of my own art and such back into it, but life has been a little all over and I don’t hav a ton of time to draw and paint currently. I hope that changes soon, but in the mean time, I am loving the artist and bullet journalers I have found to help me out.

Bullet Journal | New Bujo & November Set Up

Recs

Hello and welcome to my new bullet journal! I am so excited to be sharing with you how I decided to see it up and the spreads I migrated over. It is really interesting how over time the spreads you need change, that is just the most wonderful thing about bullet journals, they change with you. Anyway, I don’t want to write a huge introduction because I have a ton of pictures to share!

This time around I decided to stick with an Archer and Olive A5 notebook. The main reason being the page quality and I really enjoy the fact that the pages are crispy white as well. I personally do not use an index so not having page numbers is not a big deal. What I need is good quality paper, good binding, a pen loop, and roughly enough pages to get me through 4-6 months. This note book has all of that for me, a nice bonus is the beautiful cover. I found a Tombow marker in the shade 837 that matched the cover pretty darn well and I am using that during the set up as well as November.

I am not a big number person, but I love to celebrate milestone. I had this page in my previous bullet journal and I updated it normally towards the end of the month. As you can see I already needed to update a few since creating this spread. I do have an instagram, but quite frankly instagram normally just stays the same and it is more for me than anything.

These spreads I feel like are going to be used and reference a lot over the next few weeks. I decided to put my buddy read picks and order for Jenna, Amy, Reg and myself because if I don’t write them down I never remember. It is also a fun memory. Underneath this I have decided to start to watch the Outlander series instead of just reading it. I decided to put a little progress tracker because I don’t watch a ton of TV so I tend to forget my progress in shows if they aren’t on netflix or prime since those services keep track for me. On the right I just redid my 2019 goals spread that was in my previous bujo.

I decided to also keep my grid spacing page as well as my period tracker. I did not add the 1/2 and 1/4 points because it was a lot of work that I never really references because my spreads were never broken up like that. Having the number of boxes across and down is more useful for me.

Next and one of my more important spreads is my TBR. I have a box on the left of each title which tracks whether I have started, read, or unhauled/DNFed a book. On the right of the book title there are four boxes with checkmarks. These are codes for audiobooks since all of these books are already owned via print or ebook. A means it is available on audible, S means it is available on Scribed, * means I own it, L means my library has it. This is all for reference so I can decide which books to listen to on my commute to and from work.

I have added a new Read 5, Buy 1 to this bujo, but I am putting this on hold until the new year because I tend to get books for the holidays and it would throw this off a bit. But, I love being prepared so I added it now.

Now we are on to November, I was one again influenced by Plant Based Bride over on youtube. She shared this printable on the left and I just loved the cozy feel and on the right I used more of her doodles to decorate a shelf above the monthly calendar.

Next I have my habit tracker, which is a layout I have been loving over the past few months. This month I decided to track sleeping 7 hours or more, meditation, reading, vitamins, tidying, and nature time. On the right I have a social media tracker to track when I am meant to post on my blog, but I will also mark when I upload to instagram. On the bottom you can see my blog post tracker. On the left is the date, PWS is from my previous bujo, which means pictures, write, schedule. Just so I can track my progress and stay on top of my posts. I really loved doing this last month so I am looking forward to using this again.

So this month I am going back to my old book tracker, I have realized I don’t really care how many pages a day I read, but more so how long it is taking me to read a book. So, if you have not seen this spread before. On the left I will use a color that represents a book and I will color in the blocks next to the days I read that particular book. You can see this filled out in my post called Bullet Journal | May 2019. On the right I used another one of Plant Based Bride print, I thought it was a nice reminder to do things that make you happy and feel good inside.

Next up is my TBR, which I talked about in my TBR post, TBR | November 2019. If you have not noticed already I decided to use the N from the first page of the month as a guide to decorate the titles of each page. I thought it would help tie everything together.

Those are my weekly spreads. I decided to try something new again. I was watching Plant Based Brides November set up and I thought it looked so functional and simple and for me that is the best when setting up my weeklies as of late so I can focus on the items on the page instead of the fluff.

Anyway, this is my new bujo and my November set up! I hope you enjoyed this little peak!

bene

My dashboard and my calendar and from Plant Based Bride over on youtube. I really loved what she did this month and I thought the quote was wonderful so I printed it out and pasted it right inside.

This month I decided to keep this form of habit tracker, I really enjoyed each habit having its own little home. It felt nice and contained and tracking was really easy. On the right I decided to give something new a try. I have seen many “line a day” spreads all over the internet and I thought it was a really nice reflective tool.

On the left is my To Be Read, I also loved what I did last month with this so I decided to keep it the same. As you can see I am planning on reading American Gods and The Institute next month. Just a little reminder that S means started, r means read, and p means placed in a middle mark or wrap up post.  On the right I am tracking my pages a day again, but since my challenge is over I decided to extend the tracker to 300 pages instead of just 64.

This month I am planning on taking part in the Spookathon that is hosted by Books and Lala over on youtube. I decided to doodle a book per challenge and then place a spooky skull on top. On the right hand side I cut some scrapbooking paper and pasted it down. I felt like it suited this spread.

On the left I am trying something else new, I am going to be tracking my mood via potion bottles. I was inspired by AmandaRachLee on youtube. Depending on your mood is how much you fill up each bottle. I love this idea so much more than the color coded ones. I never enjoy carrying a lot of Bujo stuff around with me on the go. I normally only carry around 1 pen, 1 marker, and a mini ruler. On the right I cut out some more scrapbooking paper I found at Michaels’s craft store.

I decided to keep my weekly spreads just about the same, I only added in the moon cycles this time around since I had the stickers sitting around and I thought it was very fitting. I also put the mini calendar in the top right and I printed out more of Plant Based Brides illustrations to decorate the corners.

This little illustration is a animal skill of some kind, not quite sure, but I really liked the flowers coming out of it.

Here is another printing of the illustration from the dashboard page. I always loved art that has to do with the sun, star, and moon.

Here is a skeleton playing with fire, I really liked this one because it was creepy and I thought this was a good week to put it in because we are so close to Halloween!

The last week is the week of Halloween so I thought the perfect addition would be a witches hat.
