Hello everyone, over on twitter I few weeks ago I opened up to the fact I have used tarot cards for nearly a decade. When I first started using them, let’s just say people weren’t very kind about it. But, now nearly a decade later people are talking about them openly and it truly makes me happy to see. Now, I feel that everyone uses tarot cards differently so please understand this little look into my cards and how I use them is my personal relationship with my cards. That in no ways means you are using them wrong if you view or use them differently. I am not a tarot specialist or professional, so do your own research and have your own experiences. This post is for entertainment only and not advice. Now, on to my story of sorts.
Now, I personally do not believe that tarot cards tell the future. What I do believe is that they are a tool to better connect with my self conciseness, not a deity or entity. The symbolism in the cards and images tell a story, but just like books everyone can see and get something different based upon their life experiences and current life situation. One quote pops into my head,
“No two persons ever read the same book.”

For me are a great tools for self reflection, self growth, and self awareness. Now historically these cards started off as a game, to being turned into what they are viewed as today. If you are interested in the history of the cards, here is link to a short article by How Tarot Cards Work by Lee Ann Obringer. Which, I find to be very interesting because these cards traveled from different parts of the world, were a game, and then turned into part of the occult. It is interesting that something so widly played with had its reputation changed to so many. Now, when I use my cards I always light a white candle might it be protection, calming, or just me setting the intention that I am setting this time aside for me. Then it comes time to pick which deck I am going to be using. At this point I have 4 decks and an additional oracle deck. I used to have two others, I recently gifted them to a friend, but I will still be sharing those with you as well.
My Decks Past and Present
Smith-Waite Tarot Borderless – Mass Produced, My most used deck.
This deck is one I use on a daily or almost daily basis. I do a daily pull for a card for me to reflect upon. This edition is just beautiful and really makes the art the focus, which for me in the most important part.
The Ostara Tarot – Mass Produced, gifted to a friend.
This is a beautiful deck with vivid colors and the creation of four artists. It is a wonderful work of collaboration. I ended up gifting it to a friend because I didn’t use it that often due to the thickness. I tend to favor thiner, sturdy paper.
Art Nouveau Tarot – Mass Produced, my first deck.
This was my first deck and I started with tarot nearly a decade ago. While I do not use this deck very often anymore, it has a place in my heart and I don’t think I could get rid of it. The art and pallet are just beautiful.
Madam Clara Tarot 3rd Edition – Indie, my second most used.
This brightly colored deck is my first indie deck I added to my collection. I happened to be on etsy and came across this deck that was originally on kick starter. I loved that it had key words on it, I think it is great for beginners who are learning, but also the art is just so unique and rich.
The 5-cent Tarot by Madam Clara – Indie, most recent addition.
Now, this one was a gift from a family member and it is just beautiful. I love the cooler tone and the carnival feel. I also like that this has key words, but gives you enough space to interpret your own meaning from the images.
Classic Rider-Waite Tarot – Mass Produced gifted to someone – Don’t have a picture.
Bonus Oracle Deck!
The Earthbound Oracle – Indie, only owned oracle deck and I LOVE it!
This was also a gift to me from my amazing boyfriend. He picked this up for me for Christmas and I have to say I was unsure of using an oracle deck with 0 booklet, but finding my own meanings and learning about animal symbolism.
